Covid-19: Visiting your GP surgery


Covid-19 Protections are still in place in this Practice. 

In line with current Government guidance patients are required to continue to wear a face covering in all healthcare settings. 

Face coverings primarily protect others, so doing so - unless exempt - is key to preventing spread of infection.

Due to NHS 111 experiencing very high call volumes - please use the online facility below.

For patients concerned that they may have the virus or may have come into contact with someone who has, the NHS 111 online service has created pages that tell patients what they should do based on their cirumstances.


Key Information


We are sorry to inform you due to a national shortage of pathology tubes (blood bottles) all GP surgeries are required to reduce the number of blood tests we are taking. This means we will be priotising ugent cases and we will not be taking any routine blood samples. 

What this means: 

The following blood tests are deemed routine and will NOT be undertaken at this time:

  • NHS Healthchecks
  • Fertility bloods
  • Prediabetes annual review 
  • Annual TFTs for asymptomatic patients
  • Vitamin D
  • Long-term condition reviews unless deemed urgent by a Doctor

The following blood tests WILL be undertaken at this time: 

  • Amber drugs monitoring
  • 2WW and ACE referrals
  • Acute renal failure
  • Tests deemed clinically urgent by a Doctor

We expect this situation to last at least 1-3 months. 

If you have been booked in for a blood test in the next 3 months, we will review the clinical urgency of that test and will contact you to cancel that appointment if necessary. We will then reschedule that test once the shortage has passed.

GP Patient Survey Results

The GP Patient survey is an annual survey carried out by Ipsos MORI, a research company based in London. They directly contact a random sample of our patients to establish their satisfaction with our service. Moorfield House Surgery has achieved a result to be proud of this year. Our overall rating of 'good or better' has risen from 70% in the last survey to 94% this year. This shows a real focus on our patients and their experience and is a phenomenal result set against the background of the challenges of COVID.
